Actinides!Actinides are in period 7 and fall between groups 2+3.
In the Actinide group, there are 14 elements. The consist of:
Actinium
Thorium
Protactinium

Uranium
Neptunium
Plutonium
Americium
Curium
Berkelium
Californium
Einsteinium
Fermium
Mendelevium
Nobelium
The first four are solids, and the rest of the Actinides are not found in nature. Physical Properties:
Actinides have a crystal structure. They are also colorful such as red, purple, pink, yellow-green, green, and pink-red. Actinides are also organic. Chemical Properties:
The metals in the actinides group tarnish in air. Actinides also react when met with boiling water. This causes the actinides to release hydrogen gas. Lastly, actinides combine directly with nonmetals. Fun Facts!!!
ALL actinides are radioactive!
Five actinides have been found in nature: thorium, protoactinium, uranium, neptunium, and plutonium. The other actinides have been produced artificially in nuclear reactors or particle accelerators
Actinides have no stable isotopes.
Uses:
The radioactive nuclides in the actinides are used in cancer therapy, analytical chemistry, and also in the study of chemical stuructures.
The two elements, uranium and plutonium were both used in making the atom bomb.
